On 1st April 1998, Mr Swarn Singh Grewal a renowned educationist of this area established Raekot Public School at Raekot.
The school is located in the beautiful town of Raekot just 45 kms from Ludhiana with the campus area of 4 acres having multistoried school building and beautiful lush green play grounds.
Here we want to add that Satinder Pal Singh Grewal (Bali) the younger son of Mr Swarn Singh Grewal has put a great effort to build the campus of Reakot Public School which includes well planned building, grounds & beautiful landscaping of the School. He was B&R Engineer with the Punjab Govt. and later on settled in Canada in the same profession.
Raekot town is a historical town. It was established by Nawab of Reakot “Rai-Kalha”. He also made “Haveli” for his residence in 1650. The “Haveli” is still intact & later on Guru Gobind Singh Ji tenth Guru of Sikhs came to this town and gave Nawab of Raekot – “Ganga Sagar”. Ganga Sagar was kept in Haveli till 1947.
Haveli Rai Kalha
Haveli Rai Kalha was made in the year 1650. The Nawab of Raekot Riyasat used to live in this palace.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji was the tenth & the last of the ten human form Guru of Sikhism. He became Guru on November 11, 1675 at the age of nine following the footsteps of his father Guru Teg bahadur Ji. We are honoured and blessed that Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited this town around the year (1705-1706).
Rai Kalha was a wealthy landlord & devotee of Guru Gobind Singh Ji who built this Haveli hence the name “Haveli Rai Kalha”. This Haveli finally got allotted to Sardar Lal Singh by the State Government of Punjab. Here, Onwards the haveli passed on to his sons Tejinder Singh Rai, Rajinder Singh Rai and Mr. Jaswinder Singh Rai and today they are proud to be the owner of this historic haveli.
